Master copy of Bargue plate
PLATE I, 27 - LEG OF GERMANICUS, FRONT VIEW - CHARLES BARGUE MASTER COPY

The Bargue drawing course provides students with classical instruction on drawing in a traditional realist style. This plate was reproduced in graphite, using only the tip of the pencil to achieve a full range of clean tones, all without brushes or blending stomps. To obtain fine details and transitions, the pencils are sharpened to a needle-like point, with over an inch of exposed lead. This work requires fine manual dexterity and sensitivity, and attention to proportion and large forms as well as detail.
